  Step-by-Step to Purchase a Burn Permit: 

  1. Log in to your Community Connect account 
  2. Scroll down to the ‘Burn Permits’ tile 
  3. Click ‘Apply for Permit’
• In person

  To purchase a burn permit in person, residents must obtain an application at the Clearview Township Administration Centre located at 217 Gideon Street in Stayner, during regular business hours. For more information, call (705) 428-6230 ext. 401.

Permit Types & Regulations

• Rural Permits

  All property owners in rural areas must obtain a Burn Permit prior any open air burning at their property.

  Please note that Clearview By-law #14-06 outlines the times and locations that fire may be set in open air and the precautions to be observed by persons setting such fires.

• Settlement Permits

  All property owners in a settlement area must obtain a Burn Permit prior to having a fire at their property.

  Burning in a settlement area is only permitted through the use of a fire appliance.

  Settlement Areas include: Nottawa, New Lowell, Creemore and Stayner.

• Large Permits

  Please note that a large permit authorized by the Fire Chief is required for fires larger than 1m x 1m.

Community Connect Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

• What is Community Connect?

  Community Connect is an online portal where residents can purchase burn permits. This portal includes optional features such as adding additional information about your household that will be helpful to the Fire Department if you experience an emergency.

• Why did the system change?

  Community Connect provides a more reliable and user-friendly experience with additional features. Residents can purchase burn permits, and if they choose, provide important information that will assist Clearview Fire & Emergency Services in the event of an emergency.

• What kind of information will I need to provide?

  Any information you provide through Community Connect is completely voluntary and based on what you are comfortable sharing. To create an account, you will need to provide your first and last name, email address, phone number and property address.

  In addition to getting your burn permit, you can also choose to provide the Clearview Fire & Emergency Services details on:

  • Family members who live at your residence.
  • Potential hazards to firefighting, like fuel tanks or in-ground pools.
  • The presence of solar or auto start generators.
  • Accessibility and functional needs, such as the use of home oxygen, visual impairment, etc.
  • Pet information and details.
• How secure is my data, and how is it used?

  Data that you provide in your Community Connect profile is secure and is used only for the purpose of better serving you during emergency situations. Your information is never used for any other purpose. All logins are password-protected with bank-level encryption and security. If you’re comfortable logging in to your online bank, you’ll be comfortable logging in to Community Connect.
