Thanks to a $199,900 Resilient Communities Fund Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and the Government of Ontario, Clearview’s Parks and Recreation Department will be launching an Active Communities Project this year.
“Staying active is important regardless of age, and Clearview Township is the perfect backdrop for those who enjoy an active lifestyle,” says Brian Saunderson, Simcoe-Grey MPP. “I’m thrilled these funds will be used to introduce and infuse new programs geared towards keeping kids and adults active.”
The funding will allow the municipality to hire an Active Community Programmer for two years who will implement the key components of the Clearview Active Communities project including creating sustainable programs for all ages and abilities, expanding programs at the Youth Centre and research and engagement to shape future active recreation opportunities.
Clearview Township Mayor Doug Measures is delighted that “the OTF Resilience Funding will implement the new Clearview Active Communities Project to support the health and wellbeing of Clearview Township residents for the next two years.” He adds, “This funding will be used to expand active programs and services at the Clearview Youth Centre, develop new fitness programs for people of all ages and enhance activities at local festivals and events without relying on taxpayer funding.”
“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “That’s why funding that my ministry is providing through the OTF is so important. Our government wants to ensure that these programs and spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”
Clearview is committed to providing new opportunities for residents to be active. As our Township grows and expands, recreational programs to support youth and adults will help to make Clearview an attractive place for families to live and create a healthy and positive community for everyone.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested over $110M into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
