The Clearview Youth Centre has some very good news. Thanks to over $20,000 in funding awarded by 100 Women Who Care, The Youth Centre’s Food Services Programming will be expanding to help address food insecurities by educating, inspiring, and preparing Clearview Youth for life’s challenges in the kitchen.
Mayor Doug Measures is thankful for the local funding, “Clearview Township is grateful for the significant contribution to our Youth Centre from the 100 Women Who Care group. Local philanthropy that supports efforts for youth is a worthy cause.”
100 Women Who Care brings together women from across South Georgian Bay who, by combining resources, contribute donations to local charities four times a year. The contribution is well timed as the Youth Centre is struggling to keep up with the increased demand for their current once-a-week cooking classes.
Youth Coordinator Courtney Rogers is elated to secure the funding that will allow the programming to expand to meet the increased demand, “We are so excited to use these funds to bring our cooking education and food resources for the youth of Clearview to the next level.”
The funding will allow the program to expand with chef-led cooking classes, where youth can take home the ingredients to make food at home, a free food pantry located at the youth centre, food support for the Clearview Stayner Food Bank and Stayner Collegiate Institute, and workshops to make freezer meals, and other special items.
